OK, in 1960 the total population of the country was listed as 16 million, 3 million of whom were white. Today the population is 56 million, about 5 million of whom are white. So in 1960 the population was about 19% white. UN estimates the 1960 population as 17.5 million, so that would have made the whites about 16% of the population.

It's not just 'heavy handed affirmative action' though. There is considerable violence directed at white folks in South Africa, many of the ones who have stayed now live in armed compounds.

Actually the blacks just outbred the whites. In 1911 whites were a mere 20% of the population, by 1960 they were about 17%. During that period South Africa's population grew by only 11 million. From 1960 to 2014 the population grew by 40 million, but the white population grew by only 2 million while the non-white population grew by 38 million. Currently children under 15 make up 16% of the white population, the proportion for the non-white segments of the population is nearly double that. There's no evidence that murder has significantly slowed the growth of the white population.
