In furtherance, that was a prime example. Even reasonable suggestions such as we should restrict abortions after 24 weeks due to the unborn child being able to live outside of the mother, result in a 'you don't respect the rights of women'. Of course, on the other side you have your Ben's who with any reasonable allowance of abortion, result in a 'you don't respect the rights of the unborn'.

Those of us in the middle (and polling seem to suggest that is where most of the American population lies - supportive of abortion rights in the 1st two trimesters but in favor of serious restriction in the final trimester, which is also the case in most European countries [Oh, the shocked looks I get when I mention that France restricts late term abortions - its kinda fun]) are stuck, because the extremists yell the loudest and vote on the one issue and politicians notice one issue voters for obvious reasons.
