If the pro-choice people weren't convinved the pro-life side wanted to completely ban abortion, I think you'd see a lot more compromise on this.

It's not silly at all. Giving people a reasonable amount of time to make their decision actually works. In real life. It's just a shame that as always America is determined that the countless examples of other countries should be ignored.

Well, no. They didn't order any medical procedure until after the legal procedures were complete. And perhaps you'd like to talk us through the specific form this bullying took.

I strongly suspect they just said "This is the miracle of birth" and played a video in perineum-ripping close-up.

This would presumably also include things like mandatory ultrasounds?

Are you against a state that orders an invasive medical procedure over the objections of the person in question and then proceeds to bully the vulnerable patient into doing it, when the procedure in question is giving birth?
I'm not sure anyone would regard the process of delivery a baby to be 'invasive'.

I doubt it. Pro-choice extremists are just as unyielding as pro-life extremists. Welcome to America.

It's not silly... even though you want to tell others what they can do with their own bodies while declaring how horrible it is that others are telling others what they can do with their bodies. If you can't see the obvious hypocrisy here, I can't help you.

                    • In furtherance, that was a prime example. Even reasonable suggestions such as we should restrict abortions after 24 weeks due to the unborn child being able to live outside of the mother, result in a 'you don't respect the rights of women'. Of course, on the other side you have your Ben's who with any reasonable allowance of abortion, result in a 'you don't respect the rights of the unborn'.

Those of us in the middle (and polling seem to suggest that is where most of the American population lies - supportive of abortion rights in the 1st two trimesters but in favor of serious restriction in the final trimester, which is also the case in most European countries [Oh, the shocked looks I get when I mention that France restricts late term abortions - its kinda fun]) are stuck, because the extremists yell the loudest and vote on the one issue and politicians notice one issue voters for obvious reasons.

Uh, I'm a proponent of the 20 week ban here in Texas.

I have a newborn baby (less than a week old). I experienced the birth from the delivery room the entire time. My wife lost 2 litres of blood. Your comment shows you know **** all.
