Eh, the Constitution only ever means what we want it to mean anyway. I sometimes wish we'd just cut to the chase and slice it up how we like it instead of pretending to revere the opinions of long-dead colonial aristocrats. Except for the opinions we now universally find repulsive or asinine, in which case we politely don't mention them.

I know that's stupid of me -why not just cut to the truth, or at least good evidence?- but I like to rely on what was in my head when I walked into the contest.

Given that it mentions God twice, and natural law once? I'm not sure how you can justify stripping God out of the Pledge if it's right there in the preamble. Now that you've quoted it, where does it say we're a Christian nation?Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Lots of people believe in "Nature's God" but aren't Christians. For example, Thomas Jefferson was a Deist. The author of the Declaration of Independence thought Christianity was superstitious nonsense and yet you're still quoting him to support the notion that the US is a "Christian nation".Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostGiven that it mentions God twice, and natural law once?
