  • See, this is why I said Sava wasn't wrong about turning the hate outward a little - I don't want to be that guy who blames others for everything, but a little bit of that mixed with finally deciding deep down in my heart that I didn't want to be sad anymore made a difference.

Srlsy, exercise is very important, releases important endorphins (you need'em!), keeps your immune system in check (you really need that, trust me!) and generally keeps your cells from... getting all screwy on you. And on mental side, exercise is a must, to get your mind off of things, lowering your blood pressure, and burning the crap lke glucose etc in your body that is sometimes in excessive amounts. In other word,s if you don't, you'll get sick. Sedentary lifestyle is probably the worst idea in today's over polluted world. I don't know how much you exercise but it will bring balanca to your life. And weed. Combine the two. Which doesn't work for you, ditch that one.

Another note: just "smoking weed" isn't probably a magic bullet, it can also do you harm in a sense that there are strains of different kinds and nto ALL of them help with every situation like depression. You'd need to be careful choosing a right strain, and even then it might not suit you at all. For me it works though, but I go for 1:1 CBD to THC ratio, and I dont' wake and bake but use it at night for relaxation and for its cancer cell killing abilities.

Blaming isn't necessary. Just be a dick... to people who deserve it.

You'd be surprised at how supportive academic staff can be over depression and its effects on students. I encountered nothing but good will and great help from tutors and lecturers and the University's medical staff when my friend died suddenly.

You should also come clean with your family- bottling up this secret simply adds to your stress and increases your feelings of self-loathing.

What do you think will happen if you tell them ? Do you imagine they'll disown you ?

Which is as rational as saying 'I'm ill because I'm sick.'

I seriously suggest some yoga and/or meditation and exercise and more sleep. If you exercise you will sleep better. If you sleep better, little things which loom large will be put into perspective.

The ties that bind you in depression are really only ropes of sand.

            • You might be able to wrangle getting this semester not counted, assuming it's borked beyond retrieval.

The last phrase being key crucial. One of the biggest changes I made when I turned it all around was a new exit strategy for situations gone south. I had always been careful to try my best to salvage things, and always left jobs, relationships and such still trying.

And you know? Since I took up voting with my feet when the situation warranted, givin' 'em all the bird and calling the lot c**ks**kers on my way out the door, they don't think I'm the antichrist any more than back when I didn't get the satisfaction, and I sleep better w/o ulcers now. Sometimes it's somebody else's fault, and it's wonderful how little those blown up bridges trouble me nights.

Oh heavens to Betsy, no. I can't possibly tell strangers who have power over me that I'm a weak, pathetic sack of ****.

No, they won't disown me, they'll be disappointed in me. And they'll be sad, and they'll worry about me, and they might be frustrated and angry with me as well. But there's no reaction from them that will actually help me. And plenty that will hurt--either them or me.

                    • That's one of the ways depression reinforces itself. Makes you not want to tell/ask for help.

                      • Certainly, but I'm getting help from my psychiatrist and therapist. From past experience, the most valuable thing my family members could do is tell me to get psychiatric help. So...

                          • I haven't read QC in months, you half-wit ass pimple. Thanks for maybe giving away important plot elements, you brainless mongoloid! (See, I'm taking Sava's advice.)

                            • But srsly, I'm clearly not going to take any of the good advice you folks are offering, because I'm a useless meat bag destined to die alone and unhappy. In a few days/weeks/months/years my brain chemicals will stop being such ****heads and I'll start taking good advice again, and I'll get better for awhile, until it all comes crashing down again. So there you go.
