A public healthcare system should be mandating affordable coverage for everybody. $100 a month for a prescription to ward off a disease can be a lot of money for some people. They might abstain, use condoms or skip the pill and take their chances if birth control were the objective. Forcing low income people into a choice between food and a medically needed drug is barbaric. It's something the ACA is supposed to move the US away from, isn't it?(\__/)

....
Birth control pills can be purchased for as low as $9 per month at a pharmacy near Georgetown's campus. According to an employee at the pharmacy in Washington, D.C.'s Target store, the pharmacy sells birth control pills—the generic versions of Ortho Tri-Cyclen and Ortho-Cyclen—for $9 per month. "That's the price without insurance," the Target employee said.

And heck, it's been shown that contraception has reduced the rate of abortions. So on a religious and economic matter (abortions & childcare when parents aren't financially ready for kids are more costly than contraception), I think its a good idea.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

DD, there are a crapton of different forms of birth control (or whatever you want to call contraceptive drugs, some of which have other medical uses). Not everyone is going to want the stuff you can get on the cheap at Target.

You could, but it would sound kind of silly. Compare: "Pain meds aren't covered by insurance? Heck, aspirin is dirt cheap, what's the problem?"

On a somewhat related note, never settle for any generics made by Ranbaxy.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

Even if America had a free health care system, it's hard to say that contraception is a medically needed drug. Nobody needs to **** to live. If you're mature enough to ****, then you should be mature enough to buy a damn condom. If between the two of you, you can't come up with enough spare change for a rubber, then maybe you should **** less and work a little more.
My religion opposes this whole thing, but I don't really pay much heed to that. What I think is stupid is the idea that contraception is somehow a basic right, up there with food and shelter. Food and shelter are necessary to live, basic medical care ditto. Contraception is just a good way to make a fun activity a little safer. You can live without fun, you can't live without food or protection from the elements. Do you understand the difference? Paying for fun is what your disposable income is supposed to be for. Otherwise let's all demand free Netflix, so the ugly people can have something to pass the time.John Brown did nothing wrong.

Now, now. Plenty of ugly people manage to get sex.

Yes.
If you substitute the words stupid for ugly and smarter for prettier.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”
