    Hmm, I did say
So don't place too much blame on yourself.
I didn't say he was blameless. I just stated where a majority of the blame lies.

Um... so, Lori... you fell in love with this woman while dating someone else, and then she started sending you naked pictures when you were dating a second someone else, and you never told her to stop... so... did you ever get together with this woman? Because it seems like you fell in love with her and she started throwing herself at you and you never went after her... in which case, you should have been trying to avoid her due to shame rather then her asking if it'd be best to be avoiding you because of... I dunno.

She never wanted to be romantically involved with me. She told me repeatedly that she loved me, and was in love with me, but only in a platonic sense.

I don't know this girl, obviously, but you've previously described her as 50% nuttier than a Snickers bar, and it sounds like she's trying to cautiously wiggle her way back into your life. It seems the sensible thing to politely dodge her throughout the reception. This may sound like an ordeal--and it is--but on the other hand, it will give you something to do. Most people who go to wedding receptions eat hors d'oeuvres (or however you spell it) for a few minutes, then mingle awkwardly with random people drawn from foreign spheres of the bride/groom's lives for a few minutes before saying swyve it and heading to the bar to drink off the tension. Come to think of it, I've heard some people actually have tremendous fun at weddings, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around the concept, personally. YMMV. Anyway, if it's like most weddings, there will be a crapton of people, and it shouldn't be hard to get lost in the crowd. Just don't spend too long with any one clump of people, and it should be easy for the two of you to pass like ships in the night. Stay sober and endure. This too shall pass.

The type that would be telling you she doesn't want to get involved with you while sucking your ****.

At the time, she fancied herself a model. Her nominal intention was to get my opinion on the pictures.

Yes. I'm not really looking forward to the wedding at all, not even considering the evil best friend stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing my high school girlfriend (she lives in Boston now and we don't see each other very often), but she obviously and understandably won't have a lot of time for me.

Hence the nominal part. You wouldn't be the first. It's my belief that she honestly believed her own intentions and didn't realize the extent to which she was manipulating her best friend.

It's what I do when I can't avoid meeting my father's 28 year new wife. I feel horribly inside, as would you it sounds like. But it is possible, although hard,to avoid unfortunate episodes, and you should in a wedding.
