Yes, your kidnap planes were allowed to refuel here. Something that shames us.

Oh God... what if the UK were a superpower? That's a scary thought.

What if someone from Ben's school wandered on here, heard the accusations and decided that there must be a reason for them and decided to summarily fire him? Personally I think that would immediately raise the standard of Texan education considerably, but it's hard to argue that it wouldn't be genuinely damaging to him and his 'professional reputation'.

The UK... yes... they respect the human rights of repressed peoples.

Three Royal Marines carried out the "execution" of a suspected insurgent as he lay badly wounded after being hit by helicopter cannon fire in Afghanistan, a court martial was told on Wednesday.

Footage of the helpless, bloodied man being dragged across a field and the moment a sergeant bends down and apparently shoots him in the chest at close range was shown in court.

The sergeant, who can be identified only as Marine A, is allegedly heard telling the man: "There you are, shuffle off this mortal coil, you ****. It's nothing you wouldn't do to us."

A few moments later Marine A is allegedly heard telling colleagues: "Obviously this doesn't go anywhere fellas. I've just broken the Geneva convention."

The footage was captured on a camera fixed to the helmet of another of the men, Marine B, who is accused of helping Marine A carry out the murder.

What if an alien civilization read these posts and determined that humans are utterly depraved and must be exterminated? Oh ****...

Not when it's easy to show it was meant as humour not a genuine accusation.

He does a good enough job destroying his own reputation. He doesn't need any help from us.

The real difference is that the public here opposed nearly all of it, and continue to do so, while half your country thinks stopping the torture was a sign of weakness.

I wonder how their sentences will compare to those of the US soldiers and mercenaries who committed war crimes in Iraq?

                        This is perfectly true.

What's the legal distinction between "I was only kidding" and "being cute"? What's legal proof that something is a joke?

We sentence ours to life in prison without parole.

Staff Sgt. Robert Bales, who pleaded guilty to slaughtering 16 Afghan civilians inside their homes, will spend the rest of his life in prison, a military jury decided on Friday.
A six-member military jury declined to allow Staff Sgt. Robert Bales any chance at freedom after he slaughtered 16 Afghan civilians inside their homes.

Your soldiers will probably go to some tea and crumpet, fish and chips resort.

But honestly, being forced to serve that time in your own country is probably the worst punishment I can think of.

The thing about UK libel or defamation is that it requires the reasonable reader to think less of someone as a result of the defamation. Hence calling Ben a child molester is unlikely to be considered defamation.

And UK defamation laws are terrible. Burden of proof is arse backwards in too many cases.
