Originally posted by Dinner View PostReg, no one is saying that the Republican Party is going to die just that it is going to keep shrinking and become less and less influential; becoming more and more of a regional rural party. Look at the demographics and tell me if you can find a demographic group which is growing which has seen an increase in support for Republicans? Young people? Nope. Hispanics? Nope, each election shows fewer and fewer Hispanics willing to vote R. Asians? Asians are also turning against Republicans in record numbers. Blacks? HA! Republicans are lucky if they get 2% of the black vote. Gays? Rs have made it completely clear they hate gays. Muslims? Don't make me laugh. Jews? Nope, they clearly understand how Evangelicals trying to institutionalize Christianity is bad for them. All Republicans do well with is whites and specifically highly religious evangelical whites and whites with incomes over $150,000 per year.
Sorry, but that's not enough to win elections. Romney got the highest percentage of the white vote of any Republican Presidential candidate in history (in the high 60% range) but he still lost. Just appealing to older whites won't cut it outside of rigged congressional districts yet Republicans are completely unwilling to moderate their positions to appeal to virtually any other group and that's what's killing them.
Incidentally, the evangelicals voting for Republicans led to the greatest increase in their coalition in the party's history. Christians are obviously a huge huge huge segment of the population and a very important demographic which isn't decreasing. Democrats continue to lose lots of ground among whites which is putting them at more and more of a disadvantage in the Midwest and Mountain West. Of those the latter is increasing in population, while California's growth is beginning to stagnate and the Northeast is hemorrhaging people. The fastest growing region in the country is the South, including the Southeast, which is overwhelmingly Republican. Republicans are also gaining tons of ground among men, who will always be about 50% of the population.
And to any extent that the Republicans are becoming regional, the Democrats are too.

The thing is Drake, you argue against it but don't provide any proof or sources... just your superior "intelligence".

I'm more concerned that republicans might be enriching uranium to build nuclear weapons.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”

Originally posted by Dinner View PostThis is you attempting to be falsely bipartisan. That's just false equivalency; not to mention mind bogglingly stupid.
Equating passing a budget to terrorism is stupid, unless the sticking points on passing the budget happen to be funding terrorist operations. The sticking points here are the debt ceiling and obamacare for the most part. Neither of which is actually terrorism ... contrary to what the parties would have you believe.
