Mine comes in patchy. After about a month it fills in but other than two times in my life I've never been able to let it grow out that long. I did let it grow for three months when I did my senior summer field geology course (but I didn't trim it as we were in BFE Nevada so I looked like a mountain man) and then when I was in Iraq they let us grow beards (regular Army guys couldn't be we were officially in "special opps so we could and most of us just didn't want to shave) so I had a nice seven months growth though we did have to regularly trim it so it actually looked ok. No itching or anything but I still found it modestly annoying because it was just more hair to comb, trim, and maintain.
