  • It was a valid point. TM is not the usual case - it is the exception.

It is clear our comfortable Brit poster has a thin grasp of the concept of "beyond a reasonable doubt".

    • I mentioned earlier we are in agreement the system didn't work right in this case.

You think Zimmerman should have been convicted, whereas I don't think it should have ever gone to trial.

It's more clear that our colonial cousins have a ****ing insane view of what constitutes lawful killing and self defence.

I don't understand that view at all, I simply cannot understand how this wasn't at least manslaughter.

        • Reasonable doubt.

          "most likely" isn't good enough.

          "probably" isn't good enough.

          • Buck up though Ken. The civil standard is lower so you will in all likelihood see some "justice" done.

I found that link incredibly insightful. About half of the posters all had tea party junk in their sigs and the links thrown around their forums were all stuff like reagancoalition.com, real conservative news, tea party USA, and of course links to Stormfront. It's just like Bill Maher said "not all conservatives are racist but if you are a racist you're probably a conservative". Amen.

              • That is true.

It's a point that people saying "just go to Florida if you want to kill a black kid" seem to miss.

                • don't worry kentonio: if my facebook news feed is any kind of litmus test, there's a fair portion of Americans that don't understand that a trial by jury is to keep people who might be innocent out of jail, not to put people who are guilty in jail.

This might have been so much more persuasive if it hadn't been uttered by an obvious exception to the rule.

Seriously? I thought everybody knew that NBC edited that recording. But I guess if you live in a cocoon of media that reinforces your biases, you're left out of certain key stories.

You don't think that could possibly have led the boy to believe that HIS life was in danger?
