It's not clear to me that there was no reason. YOU are assuming that zimmerman just came along and shot this kid because he's black. Yet there really is insufficient evidence that this is the case. So you're lamenting the fact that we can't just throw him behind bars anyway. WTF. On the other hand, there's some evidence that he actually had a reason--self defense, in which case you're locking an innocent man up.

I genuinely have no idea why you are so happy to completely ignore the prior events which led up to this. Can you genuinely not understand the fear that a 17 year old kid might feel being stalked through the streets on a rainy night by a creepy looking guy with a gun? You don't think that could possibly have led the boy to believe that HIS life was in danger?

The gun was not out and it was Martin who jumped Zimmerman (after Zimmerman had stalked him, yes). I think getting jumped and hit by a guy who was on top of you is more likely to make someone believe their life was in danger.
