    This Snowden guy, for being concerned about privacy and whatnot, seems to have put a lot of information about himself out there for the world to see... going back over a decade.

        This is a complicated issue.

        Normally, the whistleblowers are underdog hero types. I think this guy desperately wants to be seen as such. He certainly has brought the NSA discussion to the ADD news media's attention. But nevertheless, this guy seems like a serious douche.

            Right now? Snowden. But that's only because we've (or I've) never heard Manning speak. They put him in a deep dark hole before that could happen.

            Personally, I think Manning's getting a raw deal. The punishment should fit the crime.

              I dislike both of them. They were both reckless in their behavior with poorly conceived ideologies that has made them tools for others. Both were stupid and should not have been in the positions they were in. Manning only comes off better because he was caught before he could make a public fool of himself and his treatment has generated some sympathy.

              I was joking earlier today that the Snowden probably won't get much help from Beijing. What he can tell them that they don't already know?

                I don't think many people had any idea of the extent that they are. I've just always assumed, but it is good to have a public airing of what large organisations are doing with data collection and mining (and they aren't just gubmint).

                              Perfectly put. Typical modern world when someone can sacrifice their entire future to reveal government wrong doing and all most people give a **** about is the 'creepy' instagram photos they have or that a girlfriend danced a pole. You get the government you deserve.
