Why? The killers were clearly only out to kill a single soldier, since they didn't attack any of the stupid gawkers who they were chatting with afterward. The only person that would've been affected if they'd been using guns instead would've been the victim, and I'd much rather be shot in the head than have my head cut off.

A crank call is when you call a neighbor and complain about anything and everything.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

Europe expelled the Moors, it could happen again. I'm amazed that Muslim extremists don't take heed of what happened to the Jews in the 20th century or that "community leaders" don't rein them in. They need to do more or the whole community could suffer in the end. Just look at recent European parliament results., anti-immigrant parties doing very nicely.

Europe has a long history of ethnic cleansing, we are in a tolerant liberal democratic phase at the moment, thank goodness, but that could change. I'm thinking a ten to twenty year timeframe if these outrages keep up. It's a slow burning issue, politicises people over time.

So the bit where they attacked the armed police response unit was just boyish high spirits?

You mean the police response unit they threatened with a gun?

A dramatic video obtained by the Daily Mirror, reveals the moments after the first police unit arrived at the crime scene in Woolwich. The suspects apparently planned to attack first responders as the first man immediately rushed toward the police car with a knife while the other was aiming his revolver at the officers.
Sorry, but I don't see how the introduction of firearms would've made this particular incident any more deadly.

The gun was the funniest bit. Twitters from witnesses say that they had a rusty-looking handgun, and when they attempted to fire it, the thing exploded and blew the nutter's finger off.

Typical MOBIUS. When in doubt, don't bother with tiresome trivia such as facts, just go full throttle with the firm of innuendo and bias.

Also, by being a soldier it is a known fact that you do end up as a target for terrorists in the UK - or was your head in the sand throughout the troubles with the IRA?
No, but unlike yours, mine isn't up my arse either.

Has Al-Qaeda declared peace with the UK?
So when did the two individuals who carried out the attack join Al Qaeda ? If ever ? Supposition on your part. Also, and more to the point, he was in mufti, not in uniform. For all they knew, he could have been a contract worker at the barracks. Unless you're suggesting they were mindreaders too.

                        Still a soldier wearing a soldier's uniform.
                        Or as you put it:

                        ****wit!
Even from the footage shown on t.v. you could see he was not in uniform.

                        What was your phrase ?

                        You, sir, are dense
                        That'll do nicely.

Apparently it's been tarted up a little. Back in my day it was a ****hole.
MOBIUS for 'writing inaccurate bullsh!t' apparently.

And Newport is the ****hole of South Wales
Exactly the line I thought you'd take. How tiresomely predictable.

So your argument is that a **** part of Wales is now as bad as where you live
I live in part of East London. London is rather larger than Newport.

                        I bet they're still better than Woolwich's
Given what you 'know' as opposed to what you 'think' about that area in Woolwich, who cares what you bet ?

Actually the hyperbole and inaccuracy was in your posts. Woolwich a 'sh!thole' . Odd, when my friends lived there (about five minutes from where the murder took place) it wasn't anything like the way you portrayed it- as if it were twinned with 'The Wire'.

It's South London. The part that even Londoners are afraid to go to.
More hyperbole. South Londoners are afraid to go to South London. Unbelievable.

[QUOTE] [Look, the police massively dropped the ball on this /QUOTE]

Yeah, just look at those details of the time the first emergency call went in, the content of that call, etc. Oh no, it's a MOBIUS post- don't bother with those tedious things called facts.

                          More hyperbole:

and that most self-respecting Londoners never knowingly set foot south of the river further than the southbank...
What self-respect has to do with I'm not sure. Try finding out where the major attractions in London are situated- I can think of several south of the river but an awful lot more north of the river. That might say something about the centers of power in London and how the city developed and transport links but doesn't say anything about areas south of the river being undesirable. Many Londoners I suspect wouldn't want to go to areas of Hackney- which is north of the river.

                          Same old MOBIUS. Unfortunately.

I've never understood why there aren't more makeshift shotguns in the UK. It's not hard to build one All you need are two pipes, an end cap, and a nail. It'll even be fairly safe to fire.
