I'm a little puzzled. These guys claimed that British soldiers were killing people in their lands, but they don't look like Afghanis at all. They look African. Is there some secret war somewhere in Africa that the British are waging?

Gosh, if that's true I wonder if they'll apologize when they learn of their error?

So police in the U.S. never receive crank calls ?

On the other hand, perhaps they're simply inured to the fact that Americans do seem to like killing each other- in schools, McDonalds, at parades, at marathons, in universities, in shopping malls....

So U.K. police 'know' when a murder is being committed and 'know' when a crank call is simply alleging a murder is being committed, in the street, in daylight during an ordinary day....

Lincolnshire Police are asking trivial and hoax callers to stop and think of the lives they are potentially putting in danger when they dial 999.

Despite police appeals, people in the city still continue to make prank or small matter calls to the emergency service, such as travel directions and phone number requests, or particularly malicious hoax calls.

One example of misuse was recent, when the force received 10 prank calls from one mobile number. The pranks ranged from hanging up on the operator to verbal abuse. People also call 999 when they run out of credit.

                                Essex:

The number of hoax calls made to the force over the past three fully
recorded years, broken down by year

Having checked with Essex Police's Force Information Room (FIR) who deal
with incoming calls I am able to provide the following information:

                                1st April 2007 to 31st March 2008 - 4038 incidents disposed as hoax calls.

                                1st April 2008 to 31st March 2009 - 3033 incidents disposed as hoax calls.

                                1st April 2009 to 30th March 2010 - 2453 hoax calls.

                                1st April 2010 to 30th November 2010 - 1194 hoax calls.

                                Manchester:

Reports of marmalade theft and a chicken walking down a road are amongst "silly prank calls" received by Greater Manchester Police over Christmas.

The force made the information public as it urged people to think twice before dialling 999.

It said if its call handlers have to answer hoax calls it can lead to delays in dealing with genuine requests.

Calls to the 101 non-emergency number included one reporting a character in an ITV soap opera as a murderer.

The calls to the 999 emergency number included a man reporting that "someone robbed my marmalade", a woman saying her sister had brought a stray dog into her house and a man stating that he had seen "a chicken walking down the road".

                                Emmerdale killing

The caller to the force's non-emergency number who reported the murder of Carl King in Emmerdale gave his name as "Alan Sugar".

He told the operator that he was concerned that "Chaz has been done for it, but... Cameron did it".

The call ended after the man was warned that he could be committing an offence.
