Yes, I'm pretty sure that the boy being examined by the EMT is deceased. The background story is that his mother and sister were also injured. They were wating for his father to finish the race. I note that there appears to be a circle of people with their legs blown off in some of the other pics that include him. They must have been standing next to the bomb.
I take it back. Photos of the 8 year old fatality on the internet show a skinny boy with short brown hair, so evidently the kid in that pic survived, at least for now.

Report of a plane grounded for having some guys speaking Arabic on it. This is from Fox (local station)... True? If so... Blech.

Reuters has the story as well; there is some conflating/detail changes, so I wonder if this is just a fabrication. If so, one that made it a long ways...

                    • according to the FBI news conference the device was heavy. That would suggest at least two people involved in placing them.

                      • So what happens if the investigation doesn't turn up anything and nobody claims responsibility?

                          • Still nothing about how did this. In other news yesterday some anti-government nut in Orange County, CA blew himself up while trying to make home made pipe bombs (which might or might not have been like the ones used in the tax day bombing) while in D.C. some nutjob mailed a letter with powder ricin in it to Sen. Wicker (R-MS). I honestly don't know anything about Sen. Wicker other than he was one of the first Republicans to cross the aisle and call for comprehensive immigration reform (what the right wing in America claim is "amnesty").

If noone claims responsibility that might suggest state sponsored terrorism - if you think about it, nutjobs like the uni-bomber want the notoriety and terror groups want the publicity but states want to cause problems without retaliation. My picks would be Iran, Syria or North Korea, all of which have a long record of using or supporting terrorist activity to further their foreign policy aims.
