If you want to worry about something in processed meat, worry about nitrates. That's the serious concern. Organ meat is better for you than muscle meat, and bleached bread is not a big deal.

Virtually every low quality ground meat product contains stuff like that. Hot dogs are notorious for being the "lips and *******s of pigs". Basically the parts no one else wanted ground up and served as a hot dog. That's why when I do eat a hot dog I opt for Hebrew National as the kosher laws mean they make it from cuts of muscle meat not internal organs or processed reclaimed crap. BTW cow tongue actually tastes pretty good and I like to order tongue tacos. That wasn't supposed to sound pornographic because they're really made out of cow tongue.

There you go. A good place to get tacos de lengua (cow tongue taco). They also have cow eyeball, cow brains, beef cheeck, bull's testicles, tripe, all manner of internal organs, and nasty bits. I didn't try a cow eyeball there but I did try one at Tacos El Gordo and really they had no taste and instead were just really chewy.

Since I died last year, I've had to read labels when buying food to avoid cardiac or diabetic 'events'. What is available in stores, in general, is filled with variants on salt, sugar and fat. Restaurants are even more dangerous, with fast food being particularly deadly. Most chains post nutrition on line. Go read the sites if you want a real scare. Even Subway has amazingly high fat and salt content.
And the neat thing is, you probably won't know how badly this crap is affecting you until you find yourself in an emergency room. Thank goodness we all have comprehensive health care.
btw - A local pie shop makes haggis. I can still eat it occasionally (say, every January 25th). So, organ meat, unless you are a veg head, isn't necessarily worse than other meats - it's what you do with it. Rotten Ronnie's can make a salad more dangerous than a Big Mac.
There's nothing wrong with the dream, my friend, the problem lies with the dreamer.

No, but they did chemically alter their food through nixtamalization. Omzg! It's a big word so it must be bad for you!
