As has been pointed out repeatedly, it's also pretty rich that you can talk about 'respect' when Sloww was the one who started chucking insults around, and you still haven't felt any need to pick him up on that. I guess it's only rude or immoral when someone brings your religion into it, right?

I also believe in doing what's right. There's a lot of differences though, such as I respect everyone and don't judge their beliefs as any better than my own. I mean, of course, I believe I'm right. But I don't disrespect people like you do.

Health officials in the UK believe they have the strongest evidence yet that a new respiratory illness similar to the deadly Sars virus can spread from person to person.

Cases of the infection may come from contact with animals. However, if the virus can spread between people it poses a much more serious threat.

One man in the UK is thought to have caught the infection from his father.

However, officials say the threat to the whole population remains very low.

There have been 11 confirmed cases of the infection around the world. It causes pneumonia and sometimes kidney failure - five patients have died.

This is the third case identified in the UK. The first was a patient flown in from Qatar for treatment. The second was linked to travel to the Middle East and Pakistan.

Fair enough. I think the difference is we generally don't know someone's religious views until they start articulating them. So if someone starts spouting creationist stuff, they make criticism of those statements fair game, especially if they do it in the form of a lot of voodoo pseudoscience, a la young earthers. I don't really care if someone wants to believe in the tooth fairy, but when it crosses into certain areas (e.g. Jehovah's Witnesses' hangup on blood transfusions to the extent they'll let one of their kids die rather than permit whole blood transfusion, because a transfusion is obviously "eating" blood ) But even people with dumb opinions (usually ) deserve some basic courtesy and basic respect as a human being.

I agree. If people wish to debate religious view I think that is fine. I think intelligence people can do that without saying "That's stupid!"...or making fun of positions. I think a good debate is more served by saying something like, "Uh...science has proven that's not true...why do think that?"

It is far better in a debate to make your opponent look stupid a opposed to calling them stupid, imo.

I do criticise any Imam who denies that the holocaust happened. This doesn't mean I 'criticise religion'.

You don't have to be a psychic to know what people are thinking. You are communicating your anger indirectly. Anyone with social intelligence can know what you are thinking and saying.
