BTW raising the minimum wage is a stupid idea.
Let's just kill the mortgage deduction and have done with it.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Charitable deductions should also be done away with or capped. People should be giving out of the goodness of their hearts not because they want a kick back from uncle sugar.

Nope. Kill it. Kill it dead.

That's likely true. A lot of people want to search for a comparable job and if the benefits are about to shut off, they'll just take anything, including fast food. Though we'd like to encourage folk to try to get a more productive job than that. And yes, that's why you don't extend them forever.

Then do the rational thing and quit your job.
Who ever said I was rational?

How droll. You 'demand' the cite, yet when you pull a number out of your ass and get called on it, not do the same you asked of others. Very christian.
Imran said, "Friedman supported inflation-indexed minimum wage laws for public servants".

I said, "I'm going to need a cite for that".

Imran admits he pulled it out of his ass.

Your problem is what? That I call people out for bull****?

I don't know what size of family that is for - perhaps a single mom with 2-3 kids I would guess. A maximum of 55k a year or so (depending on wage income - a zero income household looks like it gets around 45k a year), but a lot of that is targeted (childcare being the largest portion, up to $15k it looks like). 55K a year in an urban environment is not a lot to raise a family with, particularly as a single parent who has to spend a lot on childcare (hence it being the largest single portion).
On a per person basis, that works out to close to 20k per person. Which is about twice what I earn in a year. I rest my case. You've convinced me. I should quit my job knock up some girl here, refuse to get married, (but live with her), let her collect the bennies and then live off of her.

Thanks for opening my eyes Snoopy!

Only because you are one of the few people who will dispute multiple Wikipedia articles. That and because you were completely shown to be a liar on how the Depression of 1921 was dealt with and decided to shift goalposts instead.

Your graph itself has GDP in the denominator. Which, if I'm not mistaken, was already called out. Look at the slope of that line from 1920-1922. What's more important, the blip in '21 or the drop in '20? You're missing the forest for the trees.

                        • You mean the drop prior to the Depression? Go on then... keep trying to move those goal posts (and also completely miss the point of what you were saying...)

You earn 10k a year? You should quit your job then, because it's not paying you minimum wage for full time employment. Go work at McDonalds full time, it pays better.

1, It's not full-time employment, which gives me time to pursue other projects.
                                2, I love my job.
3, It gives me relevant work experience in my desired field.
4, It pays me enough to live.

All of my needs at present are being met by this job. I am applying for better positions. Eventually I will land one of them, and take the next step up. Until then, I'm happy to work where I am at, for people that I respect and doing a job that I enjoy.

How many of you here can say that?
