  • That's just bad logic. Poor people are more likely to vote against their taxes being increased.
Yes, they would rather punish other people for being rich than helping out rich people - especially if the rich person benefits more than them. Even if they and the rich person benefits, they would rather punish the rich and make less, than make more and see someone making more than them.

It's completely illogical if your primary goal is to further your own welfare.

You are the master of making very small factors into big significant factors.
Whether a person gets hired or not comes down to the small factor as to what it would cost to hire them. Increase that cost and, like my sig says, more people will be unemployed. Stands to reason that the folks that are most marginally employed would be the first to go.

Yes, companies would save some money on payroll, but they would lose revenue with the increased cost of their products and services.
Kidicious, let me ask you a question.

Burger king is selling a Whopper combo for 5.99

Wendy's is selling a Quarter pounder combo for 4.99.

Both are right beside each other. You have 10 dollars to spend and are really hungry.

Do you buy two Whoppers or two Quarterpounders?

If the rich are benefitting then the poor are paying for their benefit. Taxes don't grow on trees.

You are really bad at this. Revenue is also a factor in how many a company hires. It's a big factor actually.

And this, in a nutshell - is the entirety of the issue.

Economics is not a zero sum game.

I didn't say it was, but you have to have some reason why the poor will benefit (why they won't have to pay the tax for the rich). You haven't. All you have done is made bald absurd claims.

              • Actually I know that they are giving free phones to the poor in Tulsa. You have to add minutes though.

                  This makes no sense.

I've given several. One, there will be no withholding. You ask how the poor will benefit? Anyone who's poor and working will have no withholding. Also, employment should go up. They will be more likely to get a job.

So it's like when people file a tax return and see what they're paying in taxes?

OOOOObviously there will be no withholding, as you are replacing the income tax with a consumption tax. That doesn't explain anything.

edit: not withholding for federal tax anyway. You will still have withholding for ss and medicare as well as state and local if applicable.

You asked: "How will a poor person benefit?"

My answer, "If he is working he will not have withholding for federal income taxes."

                            Question asked, question answered.

Yes, but he will have to pay more in consumption tax, and he won't get tax credits and tax deductions like he does with the income tax.
