Some people might have other reasons to study creative writing. Access to detailed critiques from professors, networking, meeting guest writers, forcing yourself to write in different genres, the general college experience. I just don't care that you think people are stupid for leading their lives according to diverse motivations.

Impressive. I failed out of community college twice (third time's the charm!) but at least I have a high school diploma. And I'm guessing I make half of what you do.

If somebody's intention is to go into debt in order to acquire a worthless degree, then more power to them. If somebody's intention is to go into debt in order to acquire the skills to become a best-selling author, then they're stupid. I suspect that the latter motivation is far more prevalent than the former motivation.
