You're an idiot. At least construct strawmen that attempt to conform to reality.

I take it that you don't know that some options offer either a BA or a BS. Typically the BS only tends to pay 1k or so more.
Please provide a citation, you've already been caught lying several times in this thread.

    • Explain to me how you are not calling yourself stupid for not getting a degree in petroleum engineering.

      • I spend less than 75% of my take-home pay in my current profession - there would have been no benefit to pursuing a career in petroleum engineering for a higher income, since my income is high enough as it is. In addition, my skill as a computer scientist is far greater than my skill would have been as a petroleum engineer, so in all likelihood my current salary is higher than my hypothetical salary would have been as a petroleum engineer since I've gotten more raises as a computer scientist than I would have as a petroleum engineer. I also have no student loan debt because of the computer science scholarships I got, whereas it is unknown if I would have been able to get matching petroleum engineering scholarships. Finally, I believe that software engineering is, long term, a much more stable profession than petroleum engineering.

I got a degree in computer science and I got a partner with a degree in petroleum engineering.

You just aren't going to get it. I'm going to stop talking to you.

Please point out the supposed flaw in my reasoning. Or, if you prefer, continue to act like a retarded child.

My understanding, and I do not do this, is that someone who expects to retire at the 'normal' time with the standard of living they are use to should be saving about 54% of their take home pay.

                        • There are a lot of variables to the calculation. I'm saving enough based on the assumptions of what my average rate of return will be, when my retirement age will be, and how long I expect to live after retirement; if I tweak any of those variables then the amount I should be saving could reasonably change by -100% (meaning I shouldn't save anything) to 800%.
