All I'm saying is that your POV should be that they are in a bad situation, not that they are bad kids. Kids know if you like them or not. If you don't like them they aren't going to do well just in spite of you. If they like you they will want to impress you. I know it's not the motivation that you want them to have, but they just don't care about the things you care about.

Where did you get the impression that I didn't like her? She was very shy. She knew I cared about her, but she'd been taught her whole life not to speak up, etc. That takes time to overcome.

Yes, but the fact that they were predominantly minority would fall afoul of anti-discrimination laws. They don't care about the reasons why there's a difference all it cares about is the end result. Are a disproportionate number who are blacklisted minority? Then yes, it is racist and we should be forced to serve them irrespective of their ability to pay.

When there is no evidence of direct discrimination and you see skewed numbers, one can get into a discussion about adverse effect discrimination but first people have to understand the freaking difference between affirmative action and discrimination laws !!!!!!

The difference is that one is contrary to what Christ teaches and one is supported by what Christ teaches. Homosexuality is sinful. You want, very badly, to draw a line that does not exist. And everytime I'm going to be going and preaching no - they are not the same. It is not a sin to be black. It is not a sin to be white. It is not a sin to be brown. But it is a sin to be homosexual.

I saw this scene in Flags of our Fathers where Ira Hayes ( a war hero ) could not drink in a bar because he was Native American.

That scene left me feeling disturbed.
