  • I wonder why some people find gay people so offensive?

I don't get it. Marriage is nothing but a pagan ritual to legitimatize the lineage of the offspring pedigree.
Gay people cannot have biological children, so what is the need to get married?
Besides 'love', there are tax and legal benifits in both the US & Canada to being married.

You don't need a piece of paper to proclaim your love for someone.

        • Bill Cosby is racist?
I don't remember Cosby every saying he thought business should be able to refuse service to anyone for whatever reason. (which you seem to propose) Especially if the person was black.
As long as a blacklist is done based on the personal experience with an individual because of past negative history, I have no problem with it.
But when you do it based on race just because generally that race can be the cause of problems, that is wrong. But you seem to think a business can do whatever it wants in those terms. That's what make you sound like the old racists.

Please feel free to clarify how it's not racist.

Calling it a blacklist is racist. Shame on you.

                .
                1. What jurisdiction are you talking about? What legislation or laws is violated according to you in your delivery scenario? Please cite a court or tribunal decision dealing with this type of fact situation as I find it astounding that a human rights entity could ever force someone to deliver to an individual with proven record of non payment or abuse of delivery people. You are stating your view definitively but since you have done so before and made completely incorrect statements, I am curious if you have any basis for these statements.

                2. If an entity like a McDonald's had a nationwide hiring policy such that they hired zero black people out of their hundreds of thousands of employees I assume you would be just fine with that . Is this assumption correct?

Whether you see the point of a particular legal construct or not is frankly irrelevant. Marriage exists and brings with it certain rights and obligations. You can debate whether marriage itself is a good thing or not but currently it exists and what most gay people seem to want is exactly the same access to the married state as is afforded heterosexual couples. ( and to head off Ben, equal access means the right to marry your actual partner... Not some random person of the opposite gender)

I know that some gay people ( I believe Asher is among them) doesn't care about the title of the institution as long as the end result with respect to medical decisions, inheritance, taxes, adoption etc etc makes gay people able to enter a staus that in practice is the same

Did I ever use the word 'especially'? No. So don't put your words in my mouth.

I said that a business should be able to refuse service to anyone for any reason whatsoever. White, black, blue, brown, yellow. How is that racist?

But you seem to think a business can do whatever it wants in those terms.
I said I believe that a business ought to be able to refuse service to anyone. It's a libertarian position, last I checked.

It's happened before. Marriage photographers who refused to do gay marriages have been hauled before the HRT and told that they have no choice - they have to do them. Which is no different than forcing a delivery driver to deliver to people with a record of non-payment and abuse of delivery drivers. The point being that insofar as the list has inequal outcomes, it's in violation of section 13. Section 13 doesn't care that there's non-payment or abuse. All it cares about is the ratio. If there's more minorities than white folks, then yes, it's racist.

If they hired zero white people, I would also be fine with it if they were to advertise their hiring process.

Equal access simply means that the law as it stands does not treat homosexual men differently from heterosexual men. And the law doesn't. Gay men can marry any woman they want to marry, same with straight men. Ergo there is no 'equal access' issues, because both have equal access to the law.

What you are saying is because both can get in through the front door, and gay people want to enter in through a different door - that not giving them the different door is an access issue. No, it's not. It's a fairness issue as Asher will tell you straight off the bat.

Asher believes that all relationships should be recognised as marriage.

                            Interesting.
So basically it comes down to money. I'm guessing that it would/could be in some corporations best interest to not allow gay marriage as it would/could interfere with making a profit.

I just don't think gay people have really thought this out.
Marriage is a double edge sword. I don't think much thought is given to paying alimony, child support and giving half your savings every time a person wants a new partner.

                              That is A-sexual not homosexual.

Two same-sex couples I know have been married to there same same-sex partner for over 30 years (married through the Metropolitan Church). Divorce is an interesting thing, though. The way the national legislation was drafted a few years ago in Canada, it allowed non-Canadians to marry their same-sex partners in Canada, but did not allow for divorce. That was amended this year.
