DinoDoc, you can't seriously discount the fact that the GOP base went insane with attacks against barack obama and he still won handily.

See comment above. The Republican base completely failed to win when they went nuclear on him with craziness.

And you're totally discounting the experience of someone like Rah who considers himself part of the base, but no longer, because of the candidates.

“The reason is very simple,” he said. “I want to beat Barack Obama. I don’t want to give the Democrats a nice little present of having multiple releases.”

Romney gives Democrats a nice little present in trying to not give them a nice little present.

Well if they nominated an actual goldfish, it would have a chance against Obama, but I hear newts are not very popular. Who heard that a newt ever gave three wishes?

In a discussion on Romney's ability to turn out the GOP vote, your bringing this up is irrelevant.

I fail to see the point of your fixation on this fact. Are you trying to make theobvious point that elections require more than thebase to be won?

Even if he turns out the vote in the same amount it isn't enough. So his ability to turn out the vote has to exceed the previous mark, which looks questionable. They're related to overall election meta discussion.

I am pointing out the obvious to make a point about how deluded some of you are about Obama being the most vulnerable he's ever been at any point.

The election is not going to be won among the base of the party. I will promise you that Romney will have that should he win the nomination. His challenge will be to convince independents dissatisfied with the Obama economy and record that it is time for a change.

I've not been predicting a Reagan style blowout. Merely rebutting rah's chicken little style rant about Obama being invulnerable. So who exactly are you responding to here?

So what does that mean for the people that put money on Santorum or Romney in the prediction markets?

The markets that think Obama has a 54% chance of getting re-elected? If "the economy continues to be in the ****ter and his policies continue to be unpopular" then the Republicans really are screwing up.
