Is this really surprising, given congressmen by definition win the majority vote?

    Also I don't like my congressman. He's a democrat.

****ing morons, ****ing morons everyone, the government we ****ing deserve.

Never should've left Ann Arbor; I could at least escape to semi-competence via the Ambassador Bridge, or, in a pinch, the CBC.
      Please don't kill yourself, Guy.

Did you ask if you could suck his ****?

No they offered a peice of **** deal, and true to form the Dems gave ground like they always do and sent a revised offer back.

It's the same **** they do every time, but never more blatently than since the debt ceiling debacle showed they could point a gun at America's head and get away with it.

kentonio, exactly what makes you think they are doing this because they want to hurt America? You have this problem where you confuse difference of opinion with malicious intent.

It also amuses me that you get so emotional about the politics of a country that you don't reside in.

No, it's not about malicious intent, it's about a complete disregard for the human costs of enriching their paymasters. What's truly scary is that people like yourself don't seem to be able to see just how far right the GOP has swung in the last decade. Newt Gingrich just suggested that school children should be put to work as janitors in schools for ****s sake, it's passed so far beyond parody now that it's actually becoming frightening. The current GOP can literally say or do ANYTHING and you ****ers just seem to smile and nod. If it wasn't for the fact that it'd hurt an awful lot of innocent people, I actually half wish you will get a GOP white house and congress in 2012 just so you get to see the effects of allowing bat**** crazy ****heads into power.

Well, it's not that they want to hurt America directly. It's in their interest to keep the economy in the ****ter so come election time they can blame Obama for not doing enough/anything/the-right-things. The debt ceiling example is the most blatant.

What if they'd been cool and easygoing about the loopholes? Would that have made it any better?

I would say rather that the debt ceiling gave them more leverage to be audacious with. We've all known for ages that Democrats have empty-scrotum syndrome.

Paul Ryan's one of the few people in Washington with actual political courage, and probably the only one willing to be honest about the need for cutting medicare, medicaid and social security. Well, except for Ron Paul I guess, but he doesn't actually hold any position of authority in the party.

Then you're either a liar or a complete fool (possibly both). "I am demanding $2 trillion in tax cuts for the rich (lowering their rate from 39% where it will be if they do nothing down to 28%) in return for $250 billion in tax increases on the middle class, oh, and I generously slash the pensions & medical care of old people". That's a net tax cut not a net tax increase and all Dems were offered in return was the same old partisan bull****.
