  • Imran, when did I say I didn't believe in the early church you ass?! You're a hack.

I don't believe in the corrupt catholic church and either do you so **** off!

What I said regarding tradition is that it is not the accumulation of reason. The history of the catholic church is the perfect example. HACK!

Had nothing to do with written words.
Oh nothing except it is written word. You're a moron. Why would he be talking about oral teaching. Your theory is divorced of historical context.

      • Do you believe that tradition is important or not? Yes or no? And if it is a no, then why do you believe in people like Ireneaus who talked about how important tradition is? If it is yes, how can you square that with your admittedly literal sola scriptura views?

Of course throwing names around is unChristian, but what would you know about that? (Besides, "hack" is the best insult you can come up with?)

Logos (the living word) and Lexis (the written word) are two different things.

Are you trying to say that the written word existed before the creation of the universe? Why wouldn't John be talking about oral teaching? What do you think made up the Torah in the first place aside from oral teachings which were written down?

                • So why was Roman Catholicism left out of the poll?

                  • To make fun of Ben. The poll was in response to Ben starting a "who was the best English monarch" thread in which he left off all of the Tudors (because the Tudors were excessively Protestant)

To tweak Ben, who'd just started a "best British monarch" poll and deliberately left off the Tudors. This thread was originally a barb in his direction. But he's banned till April now, so it hardly matters.

Grr, Loin beat me to it.

If you believe in oral tradition it can mean that and not scripture, but that wouldn't be the original meaning. It means Scripture. But Elok is just making **** up.
I don't know enough of the Church's teaching on the Trinity to expound it with any confidence, but I definitely didn't make it up, it's been around for almost as long as Christianity itself. If anything, the ancient Christian church "made it up."

Too bad "hack" doesn't have the same ring as "bourgeois exploiter of the workers" or whatever insult you used back in your Communist days. Check around online, there are much better insults for you to use on other so-called Christians.

See what I mean? The insult really ought to match your level of degeneration, otherwise it sounds silly. Try "God hates you!" or something along those lines.
