Or this is definitive proof that we're getting old [enough to have better tastes]?

Wait until the '10s, with 300 songs by Justin Beiber (and clones) in the top 100.

By title alone, I know 15 of those songs. I too, stopped really listening in the 90's.

        ACK!

            Guy:

I just listened to it. Didn't seem anything particularly special.

Why do you like it so much? Maybe I'm missing out on something here...

                Um... everything.

The voice, the groove, the lyrics, the bass, the melody. It is a ****ing perfect pop-soul song.

Well ok. I like Last Kiss by Wayne Cochran. I don't think I have any other pop-soul on my playlist. I prefer Cochran over the covers by the Cavaliers and Pearl Jam.

Maybe I should find a recording that's at a decent volume so that I can hear the darn thing.

I don't see what's notable about the production on "Drop it Like it's Hot". I can think of several contemporary or earlier singles, produced by the Neptunes or others, which were similar in style:

"I have nothing against Wilson, but he's nowhere near the same calibre of QB as Flutie. Flutie threw for 5k+ yards in the CFL." -Ben Kenobi

Oh and including Destiny's Child, Beyonce has 3 songs in the top-20. That's stupid.

It's Kanye's list, what would you expect. Best singer of all time, of all time!

                          Needs to be higher.

And what the hell are you talking about Kanye's list? Where'd you get it's his list from?

Hip Hop of the 2000's could be characterized as two eras, that of before Kanye West and after. Kanye personified a dramatic shift in not only hip hop sound, but overall style. He is the split between the late 90's gangsta rap of the era of Ruff Ryders/'money, cash, hoes' and the modern, often college-educated, preppy (and I guess you could say hipster) rappers of today.

Would you believe BillBoard Magazine Top 100 from the 2000's done in sampled video countdown form.
