I'm surprised that third world slum dwellers can afford to pay rent on extremely expensive land, but I'll take your word for it. Also, Dubai is in a ****ing oil rich country.

        Google Mumbai land prices.

        First listing I've seen:

Pearl Property Consultant offers Land for sale.

        • Location: Sindhi Society, Chembur East
        • Area: 5500 Sqft
        • Suitable for Commercial & residential Purpose
        • Excellent location
The price is 11,000,000 Indian rupees. Or $231,000 USD.

Also, Dubai is in a ****ing oil rich country.
        Mumbai isn't.

Exactly. They are seeking out an authenticity that's a complete myth and ridiculously self indulgent.

I don't give a **** about this threadjack, but I'm just awestruck how you could post something so laughably incorrect and not even notice or care. I am tempted to see how long you'll defend your numbers before you realize your error.

However, it's worthwhile to inform the other people who have been misled. You are comparing nominal 2011 per capita income in 2011 Canadian dollars to nominal 2000 per capita income in 2000 US dollars. You're an idiot.

Little known fact: the C in NYC stands for "City", not "County".

You're an idiot, for what it's worth. The reason no one else corrected me is because they probably googled it and realized I was correct.

Even taking into account New York County:

I suppose you have your own definition of "six figures". Most people do not include pennies in their definition.

I swear, I'm increasingly convinced that actuaries are completely incapable of reasonable analysis and show zero initiative...

You're the idiot. You have flat-out lied when calling me out and you weren't even in the ****ing ballpark with your number.

My numbers in my most recent post are from 2005.

Feel free to find more recent numbers and take into account currency conversions. Maybe then you'll reach your magical six-figure number. Douche.

                  • Canadian government spending as a proportion of GDP > American government spending as a proportion of GDP.
                    Also, CDN ! = USD.

I just bought cheese. 4 bucks here. would be 10+ in Calgary. So 54k CDN is closer to around 35k US, in terms of buying power.

                        • What's hilarious is how far off he is and he's not manning up to it.

                          I am comparing 2010 income to 2005 income because that's what's available.

And he is right in that the Canadian dollar is far more valuable now than it was in 2005. Not sure how that helps his case, but whatever.

No matter what games he plays, he's not going to come close to his claim of NYC being well into the six figures. I see now he's actually edited that statement out of his quote without acknowledgement -- another class move by someone who is backpedaling ferociously.

                          • Asher Paradigm:

                            1. Troll that Canada is better than {insert something here}
                            2. Kuci, Drake, Jaguar or KH refute Asher's ludicrous troll.
                            3. Asher pulls out a strawman and informs them that they are too stupid and wrapped up in their logical, consistent thinking to see the truth.
                            4. Kuci, Drake, Jaguar or KH point out that Asher is wrong yet again.
                            5. Asher explains that his folk economics are better than anything the reality-removed people such as actuaries or investment bankers believe about their chosen fields because they are too good at what they do to see reality.
                            Repeat ad nauseum.

                            • Asher, I think this data is better.

Also, if you go to the website (click "explore data") you can find county data and find that in 2008, New York County had a per capita personal income of $120,766.

I've no idea how they're measuring that, but it's completely different data from every other source. The numbers from 2000 aren't even close.

Edit: This must be before tax?
