I'm eating Five Guys for lunch today. The median household income of the county I live and work in is $89k. I hope I've provided valuable data.

Take pictures so we can see how dried out the burger patty is and how the bun falls apart because they gob on to many condiments to try to make up for the dry ass patty.

BTW Asher is a liar, as usual. It's per capita personal income which is around $48,000.

Sorry, already in my stomach. I will note that they did put too much mayo on the burger this time, however I've not had a problem with that in the past.

According to the US Census, San Diego's per capita income is $30,000 and household is $60,000:

San Diego is $1,000 above the California average.

Either way...as I said, not the same league.

And it's you that is the liar.

Even when I lived in Cali, it was in Contra Costa County, which schools San Diego.

AHH, you don't understand the difference between a city and a county. Now it is clear why you are so completely wrong.

It's very easy for the small counties to do well with just one rich enclave while very large counties have it harder. Luckily, I was talking about the city not the county. No wonder you're so completely wrong.

I came to love Shake Shack this summer, probably because I was living 2 blocks away from one. They know burgers and shakes. Five Guys is good too, but in a different way -- Shack definitely has the superior patty, but 5G's has a nice flavor to it, and they make up the rest with the masses of other stuff on there. Though I'm guessing Shake Shack isn't coming to the Midwest anytime soon. Five Guys are sprouting up everywhere though, it seems.

I've also tried Smashburger once; it was good, IIRC, but not up at this level.

That's what their source is. But the actual link you linked to is attributing "household income" as "per capita income". Your secondary source is wrong.

View San Diego, CA employment information including: unemployment rates, income per capita, median household income, wages, poverty rates and more.

Income per capita: San Diego: $29,747

The income per capita in San Diego is 0.8% less than the California average and 12.2% greater than the national average. The median household income in San Diego is 10% less than the California average and 5.5% greater than the national average. The median household income in San Diego for owner occupied housing is 102.4% greater than the median household income for renter occupied housing in San Diego.

The poverty level in San Diego is 7.9% greater than the California average and 18.8% greater than the national average. The median earnings for males in San Diego is 33.3% greater than the median earnings for females in San Diego.
Sounds like a pretty ****ty city, actually...

Hipsters liked it before it was popular, so they claim. And yes, hipsters like expensive places. They have money, they're slightly guilty about it, but not guilty enough to stop mom and dad from paying for that semester at oberlin, and then giving them stipend to find themselves in NYC after flunking out.

Fairfax > Calgary > San Diego.

Actually the population is 1,071,515 as of the 2010 civic census. We've added 85,000 more people in 4 years (your number was from the 2006 census). I think we're bigger by now.

Fairfax County median come (according to the latest US census) is $102,325 (as of 2010), per capita is $48,140.
Calgary's median is $91,570 (as of 2008, source is Statistics Canada), per capita is $54,364.

The cost of living in Fairfax County (and even San Diego) is far higher than Calgary as well. Which more than offsets the numbers. Further, the only reason household is higher is because more people are in the household. Per capita is noticeably lower. Also note that the Canadian currency is more valuable than US currency.
