  • More than three quarters of those worth $1 million to $10 million plan to vote for Sen. McCain. Only 15% plan to vote for Sen. Obama (the rest are undecided). Of those worth more than $30 million, two-thirds support Sen. Obama, while one third support Sen. McCain.
Are people worth $1-10 million in the richest top 10%? Yes...

    • Another thing from the Wall Street Journal blogs:
WHERE DO YOU RANK IN WEALTH
(If you have a household net worth of X … you rank in the Y percentile):
      $50,000 … 60th percentile $93,000 … 50th percentile $100,000 … 48th percentile $200,000 … 34th percentile $500,000 … 18th percentile $750,000 … 12th percentile $827,000 … 10th percentile $1 million … 8th percentile $1.4 million … 5th percentile $6 million … 1st percentile

Most of the 10% richest in the country are in the $1-10 million range... and apparently these people overwhelmingly supported McCain... so it looks like Oerdin is right and the 10% richest in this country are a Republican constituency.

      • Yeah, but not for the reason he's pushing. His whole thesis relies on the rich recruiting the poor. Which is what we see, in the Dim side. Super rich recruiting poor folks is a Dim practice. Everybody in the middle are the republicans.

All the rest of you includes every human on the planet. How am I to know that any of them exist and that this is not all in my head? You can't disprove solipsism.

I mentioned this in response to Kidicious' equivalizing of statements of scientific fact with mere opinions. It's taking the absurdity of 'one is not better than the other' to its logical conclusion. If he denies the validity of empiricism on some basis, what's the point?
The delphic command isn't a conclussion. I don't think you can handle going here dude.

The GOP does this ALL THE TIME. That is the majority of their base.

The GOP base which funds everything in the party and which defacto controls the party is the ~10% very rich population of the country but 10% doesn't win elections on their own so they look around for the really stupid and uneducated people who they try to win to their side via wedge issues (guns, gays, god, and race) which they use to distract these two digit IQ mouth breathers and to convince them to vote against their own self interest. That's who all the anti-intellectual nonsense is aimed at; they want to make the high school drop outs feel good and appreciated by telling them their completely uninformed and provably false opinions are just as good as experts because those people know they're not very bright but are tired of people telling them that just as they're tired of their minimum wage job, their 30 year old pick up, and their home in the mobile home park. They want to believe that they're just as knowledgeable and have more "common sense" (even if he lacked the common sense to become properly educated or do well in school) then the "elitists", which means anyone who reads a book or who has enough intelligence to notice folks like Rush Limbaugh are full of ****, so the GOP pats them on the head and makes them feel better with a steady dose of pandering nonsense which also happens to serve the interests of the very rich who really run the party.
              Stop foaming at the mouth.
I don't know what you mean by provably false opinions but I call bull****. You can't just vote how science tells you to vote, because most scientists don't have the same concerns a the rest of us. Please don't tell me that you can't understand that.

Normal, honest people have opinions because facts are not adequate. How can you say your opinion is better than their's?

Edit: I'm ignoring the assertion that you keep making that people who think different ly from you ignore reality. That's just crap, and you can do better.

                • I'm not saying that at all, as you bloody well know. I'm talking about out right lying about what the facts are like Perry recently claiming dozens and dozens of climate scientists had been caught falsifying data because they wanted more grant money, like the claim that there was no evidence the Earth was warming at all, or that there was no basis for scientists backing evolution as it was just another belief equal to creationism. Or what about Boehner's favorite lie that government spending has never created a job? These are not opinions but out right lies which are factually incorrect. You know that as well as I so you're just spinning now.

                    • Jesus Christ, this is almost like talking to Ben. Yes, some of them lie and some of them lie a lot. The difference of scale. There isn't a whole network of pervausive lies to support their anti-intellectualism and people aren't purged from the party simply for admitting that a lie is actually a lie. Are you going to keep changing the argument and deliberately being obtuse now?

                      • The country is run by the wealthy regardless of political affiliation.
The Repugs lie to get poor dumb white folks to vote and keep them in power.
The demons bribe the the poor minorities to vote and keep them in power.

The end result is the same. The wealthy stay in power.
