I lived with three different ones for part of the time I was in Vancouver.

One was an engineer who went to the mosque on Fridays. One was a troglodyte who used to steal from me. Both of them were angry when I was watching the news of the Concordia riots and expressed my objection.

The second time was with a muslim lady who's husband was abroad. Her kids were secularized, but she was not. She was a decent sort, but somewhat intrusive at times.

Are some assimilating? Yes. But there have been significant cry for sharia law in Canada. All three of these folks said that they preferred sharia to Canadian law. I was quite surprised by that. but it's significant to me that despite their differences they had this in common.

What's the odds that both would be muslim? Gosh, if it were truly random, it would be 2 percent of 2 percent. But it's not random and that's my point.
