He considers himself Christian. He also uses the phrase "Cultural Christian", which does not necessarily mean "non-practicing". Further still, even if he was "non-practicing" (as in, not regularly attending church), that doesn't mean he's not a Christian.

If I used the phrase 'cultural' Jew, what does that mean? Gosh. Non-practicing Jew who was brought up in it but does not practice the religion.

Actually, yes it does. You cannot be a 'cultural Christian', You either believe in Him or you do not. If you were raised a Christian, (as I was myself), but later on leave it, you have ceased to be a Christian. Brievik makes no claims of faith in Christ beyond his upbringing.

Sure, he was Christian. But it wasn't the motivation for his attack. His power point thingy he put together made no distinction between European atheists and Christians. It was racism/nationalism, not religious extremism that drove his massacre.

Why would he append 'cultural' when specifiying his religious beliefs in his manifesto? I know a ton of Christians and none of the ones who are serious about it would ever call themselves cultural Christians. They would just be Chistians or would state their denomination.
