    Walking for half an hour a day? I do far more than that (in walking alone) just from day-to-day business. I rarely drive (only if unwalkable distances or have to move large quantities).

I like being fit and full of energy, I can do so much and have achieved so much with it. And quite frankly I enjoy life and would rather live for as long as possible - and productively at the same time. And as for my predicament with women, well I know people will throw willpower at me, but sometimes a psychological prison can be the most inescapable. I don't blame women. I just lag so far behind it is overwhelming. And the damage is done.

        That's depression which is a whole different issue. If you were overweight and have dropped weight, then your weight loss should continue if you stick to the programme that you did previously. Have you seen a doc about treatment for depression, Provost?

          Dude, it's not a meaningful question! There's too much variation from day to day and from week to week!

          You want last week? I was on a burpee kick:

          Sunday: Prison Burpees (set of 10, set of 9, etc. going down to 1) Completed in 7:02
          Monday: Prison Burpees again starting with 11 Completed in 8:32
          Then did Tabata Burpees (35 burpees in 4 minutes)
          Tuesday: Prison Burpees again starting with 12 Completed in 10:45
          Wednesday: Burpee pyramid (1 to 10 then back down to 1) Completed in 16:49
          Then did Death by Chinups (each minute, I do a successive number of chins; first minute: 1, second minute: 2, etc. until failure). Did 9 complete sets, 10th set was broken but completed; couldn't finish 11th set. Total time: 11 minutes
          Thursday: Max sets of 6 chinups with 60 second rests (completed 16 sets; failed on 17th). Took about 20 minutes.
          Friday & Sat: nothing.


          So I spent what's that? 80 minutes over 5 workouts?

          An average of 16 minutes a workout.

          But again, I wasn't lifting. I wasn't running distance. I was doing burpees and chinups exclusively. That's not time intensive.

          And I'm slow as **** at burpees because they're tough for me (that's why I'm doing them). A reasonably in shape person who is better than me at burpees should be able to knock out the burpees I did in about 75% of the time I spent. The Crossfit firebreathers can do 100 in less than 5 minutes.

                • Burpee is a military/sports conditioning/prison standard. It is a full-body strength and conditioning exercise that utilizes no equipment.

                  Anyone who has ever participated in any physical conditioning program in their life or played any team sports knows what a burpee is. Of course, it's a foreign word here on Apolyton

                  It's a squat thrust with a pushup and a jump. You can modify it to jump onto a pullup bar and do a pullup.

                        It's a burpee. No questions about it. It differs from an up-down or a squat-thrust by the pushup and the jump. You may have heard it called one of those terms but burpee is technically the term.

                            What have you heard it called? Squat-thrust? Up-down? They're related exercises.

                            • Burpee has a terrible name and it reminds me of an army punishment called "catching butterflies",which is squat+jump performed until your legs give out.
