It doesn't matter. According to God's Law you have to give to the poor. How could man's law be be different and still just?

He made a claim out of his ass, saying that those taxes collected by the tax collectors confronted by Jesus were used for that purpose.

On and on... zakat is mentioned repeatedly in the Qur'an. It is a pillar of Islam and is expected of Muslims. Charity, however, is not to be given to a central authority but dispensed to the needy by the righteous individual on his own accord.

See there's a major difference between the religions there. Islam, being a more practical religion, does not prohibit a violent response as a reaction to wrong-doing and injustice... just as any of us can understand the concept of a righteous fight to overthrow oppression, the Qur'an does not ask a Muslim to turn the other cheek to only get struck again... unfortunately, these verses are the Qur'anic basis for the modern jihad,

"Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors. (190) And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith. (191) But if they cease, Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful. (192) And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression and there prevail justice and faith in Allah; but if they cease let there be no hostility except to those who practise oppression. If my government takes my taxes and uses it to kill children in abortion then I am indeed a rebel and will suffer the penalty. I have no issue with denying the state their revenue to protect children.
