    suppress a minority group's rights
So this is about special privileges? Interesting. No wonder you don't want them taken away. Everyone likes their own stuff that no one else has.

I don't think Al Gore was robbed of the election.

So you believe the people desired Bush. Why then are you pushing this Mr. Fun? The people aren't behind you.

I'm going to ask you another question. Suppose disability benefits were up on the list (and they may be) with the current fiscal situation.

Do you believe that should be put up for a vote? That if the people did not support paying disability benefits, do you think that the courts should overrule them?

Apparently this graphic is making the Internet rounds again...

What's the problem with marriage between first cousins? Who are we to tell consenting adults that their love shouldn't be recognized by the state? Blah, blah, rights, blah, blah...

This is very myopic of you.

In all seriousness, first cousins are probably genetically removed enough that there shouldn't be any reason they ought not to have kids except for societal taboo.

(If I am wrong about this can a bio guy please correct me?)

If it actually had a big impact on society, opposite of what the gay rights community claims, then it would actually be an important issue in my mind. As it is, I doubt gay marriage really changes anything, even for gay people.

Does it matter? Marriage has moved beyond any association with child-bearing and become simply an expression of love and commitment that non-breeders want in on.

This. Honestly, the adoption thing still seems like a canard to me--the rates of adoption are still pretty low among gay couples and not growing all that fast and absent children marriage seems kind of pointless to me.

                              FYI dumbass:

                              1. New York finished its budget on March 31, since NYS has an April 1 Fiscal year.
                              2. Same Sex marriage was literally the LAST issue voted on in this half of the session. Prior to voting on Same Sex marriage the NYS legislature held votes on a new power plant siting/green jobs bill, the creation of a tax cap, an extention of the rent regulation laws in NYC, and changes giving some of the State's University centers more autonomy while approving a $1500 raise in tuitions over the nest 5 years.

                              3. For many in NYS, this was the MOST important issue to come up, at least judging by the people calling the office I work at (which is the office of one of the legislators that got to vote on this issue).

                              So, STFU dumbass.
