Interesting that you say that. When I worked for a major insurance company Omaha Nebraska was the king of cities for telemarketing centers because the accent was so neutral it wouldn't offend your customer base. All our primary call centers were in the midwest for that reason (and to be in the center of the timezones.) Salt lake city was also good in terms of accents and the Mormons provided a good consistent work force. I think he means that if he avoids them he saves time.
It's like when I have to do conference call with our out sourcing companies in India. A lot of time is wasted due to lousy communications.
