Anyway, Asher, you're prejudiced as usual.

Interesting that you say that. When I worked for a major insurance company Omaha Nebraska was the king of cities for telemarketing centers because the accent was so neutral it wouldn't offend your customer base. All our primary call centers were in the midwest for that reason (and to be in the center of the timezones.) Salt lake city was also good in terms of accents and the Mormons provided a good consistent work force. We had emergency call centers in all parts of the country except the south (because of the accent)

We didn't have any in NYC because way too many people associate their accent with pompous asses. We did have one emergency center in northern NY where it's not as bad.

Yes. Years ago I was flipping channels on TV & landed on a Nova science program where a fellow with a deep south US accent was talking about string theory. I could not take him seriously. I kept thinking he'd start tohkin bout grits.

What do you mean efficient? How is prejudice against people with Mid-Atlantic accents efficient?

I think he means that if he avoids them he saves time.
It's like when I have to do conference call with our out sourcing companies in India. A lot of time is wasted due to lousy communications. We have a much easier time face to face where body language and watching lips facilitates better communications.

Are you saying Mid-Atlantic accents are unintelligible? I highly doubt that, jokes about Rocky's muttering aside.

Sure, but unlike your southern slander, that comment is totally true. It used to drive me crazy up there. All these ****ing turds "speaking" as fast as they could but saying nothing of interest. They seem to think they sound intelligent if they speak quickly. It's quite bizarre.

Because those people are not worth my time, of course. When I hear them talk, I know right away to save my time and move on.

Same deal when encountering someone wearing an AC/DC shirt or a Che Guevera shirt.
