You just said NYers sound the same way but you've learned that they can be smart because you have met investment bankers with that accent.

How many times do I have to get through your thick skull that as soon as you know some smart people with Philly or Jersey or Baltimore or whatever else accents that you'll reconfigure your views just as you did about NYers?

And it's mind boggling to me how a Philly accent could sound retarded. You described it as ghetto gangster but apparently you don't know what that means because white people in Philly have the strongest Philly accents of all.

At least southerners who speak slowly dont attribute intelligence to their speech mannerisms. Thoughtfullness, perhaps, but not intelligence.

There ARE no smart people in Philly.

          I rest my case.

Intelligent people can comprehend what's being said, even if it's said at a high rate of speed.

Never. I don't listen to rap.

Mid-Atlantic accent? Is that spoken by fish or something?

Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting that all the people up in that area speak like that. I did note a correlation with those who felt there 'ivy league' education was worth more than a fiddlers fart.
