I agree with Elok that Americans and Saudi Arabians are both sadly backwards with ****ed up political spectrums.

If you want to see a left-leaning paper, check out http://www.thestar.ca
BTW, I mean the aggregate of the opinions of the authors, not the populace.
But I digress. The WaPo was supportive of gay rights before it had the popular support it has today. Global warming skeptics don't get a lot of mention, pro-lifers get token treatment, Republican congresscritters get hammered harder than Dems. And the big editorials, the ones approved by the majority of the editorial board, are almost invariably left-wing.

Have you ever been to San Francisco? Hello?
It's liberal. Asher, you can never accuse Kuciwalker of being pedantic again."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Originally posted by Elok View PostNo, of course he can't, but when an American says "paper X is liberal," and a Canadian replies, "nuh-uh, it's centrist or conservative," apparently judging by his own standards--well, that's not really what was meant, was it?
Americans need to get the **** over themselves. The majority of the modern world shares a political spectrum that is largely the same, and the US is way offset from it.
You guys aren't special enough to get your own spectrum, use the same one as everyone else and admit democrats are centre-right and Republicans are largely right wing whackjobs."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Good luck with that. We cannot reopen the Constitution without dealing with "Quebec issues".
I'd wager our Constitution will not be amended again for a very long time.
I get a good chuckle out of people who think that abolishing the monarchy or the Senate are ever going to happen. They never mention that all ten provinces would have to agree along with both houses of Parliament.(\__/)

He can offer you nothing other than a Cdn POV.
A paper is judged by the standards of its own country, or should be.

We have a Constitutional problem in that future amendments are going to be near impossible."I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow

@Asher
Asher, you don't even debate anymore. You just turn your long-since discredited talking points into ad hominem snipes and refuse to acknowledge the slightest dissent in your most outrageous positions. Then you sprinkle your garbage with a healthy dose of anti-American rhetoric: "America is hopeless, America is ignorant, America is doomed, America is evil"--and any other phrases that match this particular pattern of offensive nonsense. Sometimes you mock language use just to throw in another trite insult instead of actually opening your mind to other people's opinions. Quite frankly, your contributions to most recent discussions have been worthless. It doesn't even matter what the topic is about. It doesn't matter if the topic is butter versus margarine. The only thing you ever do is gambit with an overbroad, sweeping statement with some incendiary component and once someone decides to refute it you immediately fall into this pattern of antagonistic empty rhetoric.
It's not worth debating with you anymore because you don't debate. It's like talking to a brick wall, except the brick wall occasionally calls you names and makes predictable insults.If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?
