I'd personally make my house difficult to get into rather than arming myself, but it's my opinion.

I just think that getting a gun should be much much harder than it is, and at least require a licence...

I saw a documentary once, about a guy in London who used to drive a sherman around. He had to modify the tracks to a pavement-friendly version though.

Well it depends on who you're fighting. Assuming fuel supplies are ample, and you're opponents are home invaders armed with small arms, a tank would be ****ing awesome. But in a Mad Max situation, that tank will be a major resource hog. Against government troops, the tank is likely to be vulnerable to their sophisticated anti-armor weapons. In general a tanks for home owners are unsound investments.
