Jon, it is important to me that I serve my country. I need to do this.

And I don't think it will hurt my job prospects down the line, either. Having been a military officer will at the very least show future employers that I am a well-rounded individual who has leadership experience.

    • You can serve your country with butter as well as guns.

Additionally, you are losing income and being unproductive now. You are being a drag on the economy now, when Uncle Sam needs you. It isn't between being a military officer and working in the private sector. It is between doing nothing and working in the private sector.

Not judging by your posts, you don't.

However, you SHOULD be able to find a reasonable entry-level job. Stop sitting on your ass, GET UP AND DO IT

          • How do my posts reflect on my public speaking skills? That doesn't make any sense.

Whatever. This thread isn't about me. It's about Canada or something or other.

            • Also, fake presentations in class are no more meaningful than are exams or essays.

What you're failing at is having the ****ing courage and motivation to hunt for jobs 40 hours a week. You tried to go the IB route through, I'm guessing, online resume submission or something. That's a ****ing lottery for somebody from ****ing Temple with a business degree.

What you DON'T need is two or three more years where you're handed your challenges on a silver plate. That's not going to help you.

              • Al, I have also heard that women like men who have a career. They like the stability.

I actually narrowly lost (bull**** judges gave me second place) a business policy competition consisting of the graduating seniors in the business school which involved a business plan to improve one of those dollar store chains. My main idea was to introduce check cashing services complete with demographic data, forecasts, etc. to support my idea, as well as some minor things like restructuring store layouts and reorganizing a bizarrely inefficient store management hierarchy. Stuff like that is what I can do. I had to learn a lot about the company by visiting stores, making calls, finding data, etc. I always excelled at that stuff and professors praised my projects as being better than the stuff their graduate students produced.

                            • Alby, I know everyone in the thread is being a dick to you but when you look past it you see they actually have useful advice. I don't mean to preach to you as an 18 year old to a 20-soemthing year old, but I have a few observations based on what KrazyHorse and Jon have been trying to tell you through their trolling.

You need to go out there and really look. KH and JM are putting you down but they have one thing right: You can't just search online. You need to try as hard as you can, 40 hours a week to get a job. I'm reluctant to try to interpret what they've said further because as I am young I know very little about getting jobs (although I have successfully gotten two on my own, they were summer jobs, and that is different).

You need to be ready to accept a job you think is below you. And I know it's unreasonable to ask this, since KH and JM have already tried telling you politely, but KH and JM, perhaps it would be a good idea to give Alby advice in a kinder manner in the hopes that he will listen?
