Let's say I have faith that an alien spaceship really did crash at Roswell and the creatures onboard are now being kept at Area 51. This faith gives me hope because it means that interstellar travel is possible and that we're not alone in the universe.

Again, I'm not opposed to rational thinking, as you are making me out to be. However, I seek the absolute truth, and therefore I must not limit myself to rational thinking because in doing so I come to false truths.

It wasn't just hope, although hope was part of it.

It was believing in Jordan. Believing that he could win the game, could make the plays, etc.

And the winning doesn't have anything to do with Islam. Rather, it has to do with self and universal transformation.

I wasn't arguing btw, I was trying to describe faith in a better way than Kid does.

Kid appears to be making the argument that faith is merely self-delusion. It can provide absolute truths because you can easily blind yourself to the reality of the world and construct your own mental model of the world which has definitive answers/absolute truths -- all of which can easily be anything you want them to be.

I consider myself agnostic because I can't say for 100% certainty if there is or is not a God. I can say that the religions as we know them today are all absurd. Christianity, Scientology, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, whatever. They don't pass the sniff test.
