You've offered no evidence other than a gut feeling. How are you any different from someone who has a gut feeling that leprechauns exist? But you wouldn't object to people calling leprechauns fantasies, would you?

          Your logic is ****ing awful.

You can't KNOW anything by faith. The whole point behind faith is you have faith because YOU DO NOT KNOW something. You HOPE and BELIEVE something to be true without KNOWING.

That's not to say you can know everything rationally. There are things you can never know. I choose just not to ignorantly believe something because it makes me happy. That's what you do.

No. You don't just start arbitrarily picking absurd beliefs. What I'm saying is that if you have a gut feeling don't dismiss it so long as there is no proof that it is wrong.

You haven't explained why people in Pakistan usually have a gut feeling that Islam is right while people in the US usually have a gut feeling that Christianity is right. Even if truth plays a role in what gut feelings people have, it's clearly a very small factor.

Oh so now you, and athiest (yes I'll get to that), are going to tell me what the point of having faith is. That's laughable.

Now, an agnostic, as you call yourself, is nothing more than either a stupid athiest or one that is full of ****. Because an athiest has weighed the evidence and believes that he KNOWS that God does not exist. But an agnostic weighs the evidence (the same evidence) and says that they do not KNOW. I would hate to be on a jury with one of you people if in fact you are who you say you are.

And why, exactly, should you trust your gut feelings? did you have a gut feeling that gut feelings were reliable?

It should be simple enough. Gut feelings are not always true, and I've just ignored the fact that people are assuming that I've claimed that they are.

Don't make me repeat myself. It's because sometimes gut feelings are true.

I consider atheists stupid, as well as theists stupid, because we cannot know for sure either way. People who claim to know are mentally ill and delusional, which is unfortunately socially acceptable.

An intelligent person can say "this is likely" or "this is unlikely" and behave accordingly. But it's folly to state you know something to be true based on "faith" in either atheism or theism.

I think it is far, far more likely there is no God but I'm not going to rule it out. I'm living my life by the odds and in terms I find reasonable, rational, and acceptable.

And before someone inevitably brings up Pascal's Wager -- Pascal was stupid. That's why he has one of the dumbest programming languages in history named after him.

I'm not simply saying that gut feelings can be wrong. I'm saying that gut feelings strongly correlate with one's surroundings. That's why people in Pakistan have completely different gut feelings. There is very little correlation, if any, between what someone's gut feelings are and what the truth is. As far as truth is concerned, gut feelings are pretty much irrelevant.

                            • Asher,

This is your argument (and you are purposefully trying to confuse the matter). You are saying (and that should be clear now) that people don't have to have gut feelings (go on faith), because of education and advances in science. YOU ARE SAYING THAT THE LATTER IS A SUBSTITUTE FOR THE FORMER, and elok is not going to clear you of this. I demand that you explain the contradiction that you have made.

The only reason you are confused is your lack of intelligence.

I did not claim this. You are too stupid to understand what I am saying. That is unfortunate, but probably why you are a believer.
