You can be correct without be rational, but only by chance. You have faith in the Christian God; I have faith in the Roswell aliens. If we both have faith, and neither of us is rational, by what measure do we determine which of us is correct?

Obviously you pick the one most convenient to you, and then "have faith". It's really simple.

Not a guess. A guess implies weighing the evidence and then making a decision. That is what athiests do. What I do is more like a gut feeling.

          Christ, you mustn't be serious.

The path to absolute truth lies in "gut feelings".

???? Again, I'm talking about faith. You don't seem to be. Faith isn't about determining who is right.

What makes your gut feeling right, and the gut feeling of a muslim or a hindu wrong? Why do people in the US usually have correct gut feelings while people in Pakistan usually do not?

Then what is this business about absolute truth?

I consider myself agnostic because I can't say for 100% certainty if there is or is not a God. I can say that the religions as we know them today are all absurd. Christianity, Scientology, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, whatever. They don't pass the sniff test.
You are denying the possibility that you can know anything by faith. That's the reason you give why people don't have faith. Therefore you are saying that you can know everything rationally.

No, what he's saying is that what can't be known rationally simply can't be known.

Again, are you guys understanding the words I myself am using. Do you know what the word absurd means? If what I believe is absurd then how can I tell you why I'm right?

No he's not. He's saying that I'm wrong. That's clear. He's saying that I believe in fantasies. That is his words.

Absolute truths can not be determined. God deals in secrets.

Why have a belief you can't even justify? Just because there are probably some truths we would find absurd, we're supposed to arbitrarily pick a few absurd things to believe?
