however i will say two things, firstly when you write 'binge of stupidity' and then have the gall to call me condescending, it's quite funny. secondly, my analogy is a very apt one. you (and i don't just mean you personally, i've pulled up mobius on this before) when talking about religion, are like the guy bleating on about BBC basic in a discussion about programming today. the arguments and debates have moved on. the 'base' upon which religion is constructed and argued for has changed. the arguments against have also changed. you are out of date.
This is pretty retarded. What else is there to say?

Arguments pertaining to religion have not "moved on" just because you think they have.

Binge of stupidity seems very apt here. And no, the comparison with BBC Basic is extremely ridiculous because religious beliefs and philosophical arguments are not deprecated or obsoleted like technology is.

    • Spent a few minutes trying to learn more about WTF c0ckney is talking about, but all I kept finding was stuff that told me rationalism is alive and well?

      eg
This article looks at God and religion from the position of rationalism, an approach to life based on reason and evidence.

This is completely strange if these debates have "moved on", no?

What does "moved on" mean, anyway? Rationalism is no longer valid?

      God, what a ****.

      • Does that word start with a "c"?

        • It could. It's a synonym for the one that starts with "t".

            • Why is that even censored anymore? I think all pretense of civility in the OT went out long ago.

This is like wrestling with a 5 year old child. Think before you post.

How is this not obvious to you?

The more we understand about the world, the less we turn to fantasy and supernatural explanations. Those are what religions are based on.
Er no. People don't actually believe in fantasy. They know that it's their imagination.
You want me to explain science to you?
I guess you figured to make your whole post stupid with this one. No, I don't need you to explain science to me. I understand science better than you. I'm explaining it to you dumb ****.

You are trying to tell me that science is some kind of substitute for faith. You are doing a very ****ty job of it. Please try again.

Yes, they do! They call it religion.

There's a omnipotent being that created us and/or governs how we live.

How the **** is that not fantasy?

What the ****? It's not a substitute for faith, it shows us that religious concepts are extremely unlikely, pretty ****ing absurd, and almost wholly illogical.

You can still have faith and be a man of science (like JM), but this is a fairly rare breed. In general terms, the more educated one becomes with the science of our world the less religious they are. This is a simple fact.

Another problem with rationalism is that it assumes that the popular belief is the true belief. You also seem to believe that. So maybe you would like to back that up.
