Oh man, the US totally persecutes gays. It's just like Iran, cuz they don't let them marry or serve in the army there either!

Asher your goalposts are as bad as McCain's. You screech and ***** about US gay marriage rights and DADT but turn the other cheek when Iran tells us that homosexuality is a foreign disease.

I love that you still completely miss the point.

I take it you would condone me if I constructed a virus to attack US nuclear installations because I believe the US is a bigoted Christian nation which denies equal rights to its citizens for theological reasons?

Both countries are essentially backwater, religion-obsessed nations. Sure, the Iran openly hangs homosexuals today, while your country simply jailed them 30 years ago. Don't act all ****ing superior.

Your country is still firing teachers for simply kicking homophobic bullies out of the classroom. You don't have any right to play the moral highground card.

Until very recently, homosexuality was a crime in the US just like it was in Iran. Do you even know that? In some US states, homosexuality (more accurately, sodomy) is still officially a crime.

Do you really think that's why Israel did this?

You think this was a protest move?

Asher, get this into your head: Israel is attacking Iran because Iran is trying to BUILD NUKES. It has nothing to do with morals or ideology or anything, it's about defense. When Obama says that Canada should be wiped off the map and is a Great Satan, I'll cut you some slack for wanting to wipe out our nuclear program.

          Are you deliberately being obtuse?

I reserve every right to criticize other countries on an internet forum.

How the **** is this related to supporting military inventions, viruses to attack infrastructure, assassinations, etc?

Is the concept of criticism without the intervention of violence and conflict really that foreign to you? Did you punch your teachers each time they said something you disagreed with?

Jesus Christ are you ever naive.

Why do you think Israel minds if Iran has nukes?

Hint: Think about the comment you just replied to. It has everything to do with religion.

Religion is the greatest scourge on this planet. While in the US, it just means lack of equal rights (and until recently, imprisonment), in Iran it means something more. Israel is an entire ****ing country based on bull**** religion. It's the root of almost all conflicts, this one not excluded.

I'd also just like to note that I've posted more threads on here criticizing Iran's treatment of homosexuals than you have, so this point is even more ridiculous.

Keep in mind, the Iran you see today is largely a result of US Cold War actions. The CIA overthrew the democratically elected government of Mohammad Mosaddegh in 1953 on the pretext of fighting communism (In actuality, he was pursuing social and political reforms that threatened foreign British oil interests). The U.S. aided in propping up a repressive absolute monarch for 25 years. The Islamic Republic was a reaction to that.

If you look deep enough you will find a reason for intense anti-Israel and anti-American sentiment in the Middle East. It has nothing to do with American freedoms. By pushing Iran in a corner through embargoes and supporting Jundullah terrorists in Iran, The U.S. has basically helped the ruling hardliners justify pursuing nuclear research and upholding repressive measures. When people feel threatened, they will rally around to groups which they view as strong.

The U.S. is rapidly bankrupting itself pursuing an expensive interventionist foreign policy and Israel is isolated. Only rapprochement will help Israel and U.S. foreign policy in Middle East. Looking for more enemies is stupid.

Mosaddegh supported nationalizing the Iranian oil industry which was largely controlled the Anglo-Iranian Oil. That was something the British did not want so they, along with the advocates of the containment doctrine in the United States, convinced President Eisenhower to overthrow Mossaddegh. It's been rightly regarded by most foreign policy experts as a huge blunder and a perfect example of blowback.

                            From wikipedia:

He is most famous as the architect of the nationalization of the Iranian oil industry, which had been under British control since 1913 through the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (AIOC) (later British Petroleum or BP). The Anglo-Iranian Oil Co. was controlled by the British government.[6] Mosaddegh was removed from power in a coup on 19 August 1953, organised and carried out by the United States CIA at the request of the British MI6 which chose Iranian General Fazlollah Zahedi to succeed Mosaddegh.[7] The CIA called the coup Operation Ajax[8] after its CIA cryptonym, and as the 28 Mordad 1332 coup in Iran, after its date on the Iranian calendar.[9] Mosaddegh was imprisoned for three years, then put under house arrest until his death

Why would Eisenhower give two ****s about a British oil company? The US actually was interested in forestalling any Soviet influence in Iran; "fighting communism" was no pretext.
