I'm not a booster for Israel, Al. I believe the whole situation over there is ****ed to the eyeballs, and I don't have a particular side. I omitted Israel's retaliations from that painful, stilted analogy only because they were not immediately relevant.

Yes, war sucks in general and the US has recently been in controversial wars where innocent people have died but the difference is we took on ****ed up regimes that gassed and oppressed their own people. Even if Iraq and Afghanistan do not get better, America still had all the best intentions in the world to help people. Israel had no such intentions. Just went in to **** with a DEMOCRATIC NATION who never showed any hostility to Israel and has NO MILITARY TO SPEAK OF.

And launching poorly-aimed missiles into Israel (or providing havens for terrorists, etc) has killed relatively few Israelis, failed to budge Israel, and resulted in repeated, devastating reprisals. Yet for some reason, they keep doing it. Israel's been in a state of war for decades, and even the pitiful shadow of a war the US is engaged in at present has made us pretty crazy. Israel is naturally much more paranoid.

Yes, we remember events from four years ago, thank you. We also remember--or, at least, I remember--when that country was effectively controlled by an organization that repeatedly attacked Israel. Nobody's innocent here.
