it's a complex situation. hezbollah does social things, runs schools, hospitals and media outlets. it funds and manages infrastructure and development projects in lebanon. it's also an important player in lebanese politics, and draws support from shiite muslims. i'm not going to try to explain all the ins and outs of lebanese politics here, but if you are interested, there's a lot of material out there."The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

Israelis are foreigners using Lebanese territory as a base to launch attacks from into Beirut.
Israelis controlled the territory where Hezbollah is centered and still couldn't take out Hezbollah. What do you think Lebanon can do?!
Lebanon is a democratic nation. It can't go all slaughtering people who may be associated with Hezbollah like Israel does. It has next to no military to fight Hezbollah or even to protect itself from Israeli invasion.
And in fact:
Hezbollah first emerged in response to the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon, during the Lebanese civil war.[3][9] Its leaders were inspired by Ayatollah Khomeini, and its forces were trained and organized by a contingent of Iranian Revolutionary Guards.[10]"Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

From Wikipedia:
Ending Israel's occupation of Southern Lebanon was the primary focus of Hezbollah's early activities.[9] Israel had become militarily involved in Lebanon in combat with the Palestine Liberation Organization, which had been invited into Lebanon after Black September in Jordan. Israel had been attacking the PLO in Southern Lebanon in the lead-up to the 1982 Lebanon War, and Israel had invaded and occupied Southern Lebanon and besieged Beirut.[22]
Hezbollah waged an asymmetrical guerrilla war against Israel using suicide attacks against the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and against Israeli targets outside of Lebanon.[23] Hezbollah is reputed to have been among the first Islamic resistance groups to use tactical suicide bombing, assassination, and capturing against foreign soldiers in the Middle East.[10] Hezbollah turned into a paramilitary organization and used missiles, Katyusha, and other type of rocket launchers and detonations of explosive charges[24][25] instead of capturing,[26][27] murders,[26] and hijackings.[28] At the end of the Lebanese Civil War in 1990, despite the Taif Agreement asking for the "disbanding of all Lebanese and non-Lebanese militias," Syria, in control of Lebanon at that time, allowed Hezbollah to maintain their arsenal, and control the Shiite areas in Southern Lebanon along the border with Israel.[29]"Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

Hezbollah is a Shiite Islamic organization in Lebanon. Scholars differ as to when Hezbollah came to be a distinct entity. Various sources list the official formation of the group as early as 1982[16][17][18][19] whereas Diaz and Newman maintain that Hezbollah remained an amalgamation of various violent Shi'a extremists until as late as 1985.[20] Another version states that it was formed by supporters of Sheikh Ragheb Harb, a leader of the southern Shiite resistance killed by Israel in 1984.[21] Regardless of when the name came into official use, a number of Shi'a groups were slowly assimilated into the organization, such as Islamic Jihad, Organization of the Oppressed on Earth and the Revolutionary Justice Organization[citation needed]. These designations are considered to be synonymous with Hezbollah by the US,[22] Israel[23] and Canada.[24] The organization developed in a milieu, which included the Iranian revolution in 1979, oppression of Shiites by Sunnis and Christians in Lebanon, and Israel's invasion of Lebanon in 1982. In 1982, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was based in Southern Lebanon and was firing Katyusha rockets into northern Israel from Lebanon. Israel invaded Lebanon to evict the PLO, and Hezbollah became an armed organization to expel the Israelis. After emerging during the civil war of the early 1980s as an Iranian-sponsored second resistance movement (besides Amal) for Lebanon's Shia community, Hezbollah focused on expelling Israeli and Western forces from Lebanon."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

Wow. I had no idea DinoDoc was such an idiot. Was he always like this?
The PLO that the US led a Multinational Force to evacuate out of Lebanon which was met by resistance from the Israeli invaders to the point where the Commandant of the Marine Corps was alarmed? The PLO that probably has more capability of launching a war than the Lebanese Army has?"Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi
