The slides I refered to previously talked quite a bit about the "racism = power + prejudice" definition often employed by some critical race theorists. It then went on to state that Whites as a class hold so much more power over nonWhites that it is meaningless to speak of racism against Whites even when there is prejudice or hate against Whites.

The premise idea of "racism = power + prejudice" is however easy to look up in sociological papers available online and am surprised people haven't heard of it.
I have read that ridiculous arguments that dicrimination against whites is meaningless because have most everything. Pure bollocks.

Some of the feminists (the mad cow variety) use a vaguely similar argument as follows (I was looking at some radical feminist site some time back). The BS was something along the lines that all fornication is rape because females as a gender are too powerless to say no so we must give power to women and blah blah blah....
I think most men would like to know where this world full of women who can't say no is so that they might go there at once.

DaShi I'm very tired of this sort of bad faith from you.

There is a whole lot of information people demand from you when debating things like this and this isn't exactly my field of study, though people have commented that it must be (or that I'm obsessed with it). If I thought I made a bull**** statement that I couldn't back up I would just have kept my mouth shut, I wouldn't have posted anything and hoped the thread died. I've said I'll try to get it in a few days, if I don't find it don't have the time to find it I'm more than willing to quote my previous statement and post here that I concede the point and that I was wrong.

I've already done this several times in the past when it turned out I was wrong or couldn't back up what, I pretty sure Alby recalls our debate about testosterone if you won't take my word for this. What more should I do?

PS Anyway I can't goggle when I'm sleeping, the time here is ridiculous. I really need to go to bed, I hope at least that can be a good reason for giving me at least some time.

PPS However if I'm shown to be unable to find that particular class shouldn't effect the point that I didn't make up the "racism= power + prejudice" formula and school of thought. It has been backed by critical race theorists and yes some do teach it in class rooms as the de facto definition. As you point out the concept has been criticized but this has done little to deter some of its proponents. Views like this and similar ones are still part of the mainstream discussion of racism.

      Example: Seattle School System.

      Racism:
The systematic subordination of members of targeted racial groups who have relatively little social power in the United States (Blacks, Latino/as, Native Americans, and Asians), by the members of the agent racial group who have relatively more social power (Whites). The subordination is supported by the actions of individuals, cultural norms and values, and the institutional structures and practices of society.

BTW This thread is ridiculously off topic from the OP not that I mind but moderation on this site seems a bit too loose overall.

There is no moderation to keep threads on topic but there are no titties allowed.
I think this must be a form of anarcho-tyranny.

It's just tittiphobia. I post graphic pictures of nude men in all of the CanPol threads and nothing happens.

                          • BTW, HC...the TSA has publicly confirmed that this isn't some bureaucrat doing **** for kicks.

It's official government policy -- and one that HAS BEEN BACKED UP BY YOUR COURT SYSTEM -- that once you start a security scan, you CANNOT leave the line without facing a fine of up to $11,000. Even if you are then given the two choices of being photographed naked by some low-pay government employee, or groped by some low-pay government employee.

                            Are you seriously telling me:
                            1) This is not a severe infringement on American freedoms, with a policy that goes up to the top levels of government?
                            2) This does not bother you?

                            • Asher is, of course, correct about this. That Japanese internment (or slavery, or segregation) was worse doesn't mean this isn't crap.

The overall point - that we are in many instances doing exactly what our enemies wanted us to do - is right on.
