can you run 5k without dying? if yes, you cant start HIIT right now.Originally posted by MOBIUS View PostSo, you mean I have to make an effort!?
if now, start training till you reach 5k, then HIIT. If you want to know how to reach this, there are plenty of programs around the web, and I can also assist you in creating a program ( I learned it in the Zionist Occupation Army of Death )

Yeah. I really should stay down at 13/11 for vertical press too, although there hasn't been any neck pain since a week or so ago.

I learned that from the World Cup! But the flailing on the ground kind of wastes energy.Originally posted by ColdWizard View PostFall down and rest all the time like the pros.
I've come up with a new twist on my grease the groove chinups... I'm studying for the GMAT so every 10 problems, I do 10 chinups. It's kind of cool. Even though 10 chinups is hardly taxing for me, it gets my heart rate up enough and my mindset changed enough that when I go right back to the problems, it feels weird like it takes longer to even read the problems (I know from prior experience that after doing really taxing exercise like certain Crossfit metcons, it takes several seconds to even read a single word). I see no reason why I can't train my brain the same as any other muscle using this.
It's similar to the Kim's Games we did immediately after exhausting and highly sensory-stimulating combat exercises. It's a really interesting experience to look at a number of military-related objects for a few seconds, spend 20 minutes crawling under barbed wire, through water, etc. during a cold night with flares, pyro, and simulated machine gun fire going off around you, then have to recall all the objects with specific details like what color was the camo paint, did the canteen have it's cap on, etc. It's tough.

Just play in defence and rely on superior intelligence and positional play.

Assuming you play once a week, interval training on other weekdays should be right. But interval training isn't something you just waltz into. first intensive cardio jogging should be done, then you start high intensity interval training.Originally posted by MOBIUS View PostOK, some advice...
I'm an old git and have to play 5-a-side football (soccer!) with a bunch of young 20 somethings. So, while everything is fine for the first 15 mins or so (we play for an hour), my energy levels take a serious dive after that and my legs feel like lead.
So, what's the best way of ensuring you have a massive store of energy to see you through a whole game?
So, suggestions, apart from give up you old git!

Keep playing. You'll build up your endurance at anything if you keep doing it.
